THIS SUNDAY IN WORSHIP: We worship all together in one service at 9:00 AM in Hansen Hall! After the worship, enjoy some refreshments from our Fellowship Ministry Team. Then at 10:30 AM, stay for our annual COV congregation meeting. We will discuss how we will change our affiliation from the PCUSA to the Evangelical Covenant Order of Presbyterians. We will also share vision and highlights for the ministry and mission of COV in 2012, the 2012 operating budget, and vote on new officers and the Pastor's Terms of Call.
NEXT SUNDAY IN WORSHIP:We are back to 2 worship services. 9:00 AM classic worship in the Sanctuary and 10:30 AM contemporary worship in
Hansen Hall. Join us as we examine "The Toughest Teaching of Jesus" from Matthew 10:34-42. In this passage Jesus explains that His followers love Him more than they do anyone or anything else. He tells us to take up our crosses. How are we to understand this hard teaching? Pastor Mike explains how this teaching of Jesus leads us to a wonderful paradox. The more we love Jesus first, the more we can love those around us. If we don't love Jesus first, we can't truly love another. Or understand it this way, the more we give up our lives for Jesus, the more life we gain. I we don't give up our lives for Jesus, we will lose them. This 'toughest' teaching turns out to be the best teaching.

WEDNESDAYS IN THE WORD! Join Pastor Mike on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM in a new weekly study of God’s Truth for our lives. Meet in the Reading Room/Library and bring a Bible. We will start our study in Ephesians to discover the Lord’s intentions for a healthy, happy church and daily life.

DISCOVER COV SEMINAR 101: Join Pastor Mike at the next Discover COV class on Saturday, February 25. Discover what it means to love and follow Jesus in commitment, learn about Baptism and Communion, and discover the purposes and benefits of belonging to a church family through membership. It’s also a great time to get acquainted! Class begins at 8:00 AM and concludes at 12:30 PM. The morning includes lunch! ESL IS IN NEED OF TEACHERS: ESL (English as a Second Language) needs people willing to give volunteer time on Wednesdays from 9:00 AM-11:15 AM from Septemebr to June to people who would like to learn the English language. No teaching experience is requires because all the training is provided.

CHURCH OF THE VALLEY CONCERT BAND: For all who have played in a concert band, please consider joining our own church band. There are Sundays when the joy is so pervasive, the voices, organ and piano need a boost to truly express the Glory of God. BASKETBALL ANYONE? All men and women 8th grade and older are invited to come for a fun evening of basketball. We will get together every first and third Thursday, at 6:30 PM in Hansen Hall. All skill levels welcome. This is just a fun way to get some exercise and enjoy fellowship with others in a safe environment.
