Administration Building Update
It is amazing to see what a few months can do! From a gutted interior to a fully functional and professionally attractive space. It looks like the picture below! Paint, tile, ceilings, bathrooms and cabinets in. New electrical service, new plumbing service, a new fire alarm system and an upgraded alarm system position this space to serve us well throughout the coming years. With ample storage, a work room, a secure lobby area, a welcoming foyer and a wonderful conference room - the day to day ministry work area will serve well all who utilize it. On time and on budget, we rejoiced during our Open House, celebrated on Sunday, August 23, at 10:15 AM, with a Prayer and Dedication ceremony complete with ribbon cutting!
Regarding the new foyer, one of the many design considerations defined by the COV Planning Team was to provide a warm and focal welcoming point for all visitors. Single-pane french doors from adjacent spaces will help draw natural light and exterior views into the foyer and convey a sense of openness. The foyer will be immediately adjacent to the entry vestibule, receptionist area, interview room, conference room, workroom and administrative areas.
Serving as the activity hub for building occupants and visitors, the foyer will enable chance and random interchanges ... a place of meeting, separate from other formal office uses, where unscheduled interactions can lead to better communication and a greater sense of "community."
Through the efforts of many individuals, the plan has been made a reality. Special thanks to Leonard Van Velkinburgh, Construction Manager; Steve Richards, Architect; Dawn Ruiz, Project Manager; Wendy Cambridge, Planning Strategist; Jonathan Weldy and Dick Pearson, Finance Administrators; Lou Vieira, Building and Grounds Administrator; Mike Clark, Senior Pastor; and Mary Butterfield, Interior Designer.
