Our Ministries

Our Ministries are the place you can find life-giving community.

What Happens Here Each Week

Church of the Valley has been part of the High Desert since 1949. Our ministries are where that history turns into something you can walk into - a Tuesday morning food pantry, a Wednesday night youth room, a small group around somebody's table.

Crisis Ministry has served the community for more than 20 years. It is a food pantry and a clothes closet, open to anyone in the High Desert who needs it - no appointment, no ID, no referral, no membership. It is also a place to be prayed for. We are open Tuesday through Thursday, 10am to 12pm, on Standing Rock Avenue next to the ambulance station, and Crisis has its own door behind the brick wall. Food donations can be dropped off Monday through Thursday, 9am to 4:30pm.

Rummage Ministry takes drop-offs the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month, 9am to 11:30am, at the Rummage Buildings - anything clean and reusable. Sales run the first Friday and Saturday every four months: $4 bags of clothes, shoes, furniture, books, baby items, medical equipment and household goods, priced low on purpose. The proceeds go back out to other nonprofits, including God's Ranch and God's Extended Hand, and to ministries here at COV.

COVKids welcomes every child from age 1 through 5th grade. Check in at the COV Kids Lobby in the Family Life Center at 10:15am, just past the blue canopy. For babies and children who are not quite ready to join the group, our Family Room has a live stream of the service, toys, snacks, coffee and a nursing and changing area.

The Way is our youth ministry for 7th through 12th grade. We meet Wednesdays 5:30 to 8pm in the Youth Room in Hansen Hall, and again Sunday mornings at 10:30 for coffee, donuts and a message. The Way Cafe is open Sundays 9:30 to 10:25.

Small Groups and Bible Studies are where faith stops being abstract. Adult Sunday School meets Sundays 10:15 to 11:30am in Room 3, and our Men's Bible Study gathers around Proverbs 27:17 - iron sharpens iron. Sign-ups are open.

MomCo is a group for moms in Apple Valley, meeting the second Thursday of every month, 5 to 7pm - icebreakers, food, worship, and childcare provided. We also hold a quarterly moms' night out, with childcare and food included.

Need help today? The Crisis Ministry pantry and clothing closet are open Tuesday through Thursday, 10am to 12pm at 20700 Standing Rock Ave, Apple Valley. Everyone is welcome.
