1 Thessalonians 4:13-18                                                     Speaker: Aaron Seeger

The Lord’s coming …

1. … changes our perspective on reality.

The term kŏimaō, “sleep,” is often used in the New Testament as a euphemism for death. (See John 11:11; Acts 7:60; 13:36; 1 Corinthians 15:6)

Our perspective changes when we realize there’s life beyond the grave.

2. … changes our perspective on grief.

The “rest” refers to those who don’t have the hope of eternal life. (v 16)

Our perspective changes from grieving without hope to grieving with hope.

3. … changes our perspective on encouragement.

harpazō: to seize or carry off

Our perspective changes when we encourage others with these words.
